It has been a couple of years since brother Eli Soriano was persuaded to go abroad by concerned brothers who are eloquent enough to think of ways to keep him safe. Brother Eli is a preacher who dines with death threats on table which is the same thing that the early preachers of God experienced in the bible. It is also parallel to the experience of the non-religious people who exposes the truth except brother Eli exposes religious truths. He has been the most controversial preacher in his native land, the Philippines with his sharp arguments that criticizes the wrong tenets and doctrines of various religious denominations of his time. He was successful on bringing down the wrong teachings of a well-known religious denomination in his land which is popular because of its influence on Philippine Politics, the Iglesia ni Cristo of Felix Manalo. It is evident that it can no longer defend it’s doctrines for it no longer wish to engage in a fair argument wherein clashing beliefs can be properly compared in a civilized way.

“In the absence of proof and reason, he (Soriano) should not be penalized with a three-month suspension that works as a prior restraint on his speech,” Puno said.

Also dissenting in the decision was Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, who echoed Puno and said the suspension constituted prior restraint.

The Court said the MTRCB suspension was limited only to the show Ang Dating Daan, not Soriano, as the MTRCB “may not suspend television personalities, for such would be beyond its jurisdiction.”

The MTRCB is not the only government body being manipulated by the so called religious organization. The town mayor of Apalit, Oscar Tetangco known to have large banners greeting Iglesia ni Cristo, also took action in locking four building inside the ADD Convention Center including the hospital which was used for the welfare of the less fortunate people for free medical attention and the orphanage building for the widows in their old age. The town government of Apalit refuses to give the proper permit despite the fact that the ADD management already complied to their requirements.

Cases in were filed one after another as each one was dismissed by the lower courts due to lack of meritt. Although the cases filed were proven false, damages has been done to the reputation of the people being publicly harassed through articles in tabloids because most people who read newspapers believe what a newspaper is saying without further investigation. Some of the allegations filed in court were frustrated murder, libel and rape which were all dismissed in the lower courts. The case of rape was then elevated to the Department of Justice despite the fact that it was dismissed in the lower court. The chief of staff of Raul Gonzales who is Undersecretary Fidel Exconde is a well-known INC member.

MINISTRY ABROAD

As Saint Paul had said in his letter to the Romans, everything seems to work for the good of the people who serve God. After going abroad because of persecutions, it has paved the way to open the ministry to non-Filipino people who are in foreign lands. Just like what happened during biblical times when the Apostles were rejected in their native land Israel, they were forced to bring the gospel to the Gentiles. Congregations composed of natives in South America, North America, Europe, Africa and Oceania were established. This is because of television shows of the Old Path Channel shown on these continents as well as Internet Video Streaming.

Despite of the long distance, brother Eli was still able to held bible expositions in his native land, the Philippines because of modern technology. Some of these bible expositions can be watched on one of his Youtube Channel www.youtube.com/angdatingdaan. A lot of people who has not seen brother Eli personally was able to shoot their questions and hear his answers through video streaming flashed in a wide screen. This is the same method being used by the congregation to hear brother Eli himself and communicate with him despite the distance. The world seems small because of modern technology.

SAFER TO BE AWAY

Our faith dictates that it is not in their power to bring a sparrow down to the ground. We cannot discount the fact that the enemy is doing their best in order to hunt brother Eli and put him to silence. According to brother Daniel Razon, an intelligence report has said that the INC generals are now taking action to bring brother Eli back to the Philippines because they are not sure if they can have the same influence that they now have with the next President of the Philippines. May God’s will be done but it is safer for brother Eli to be away from the dangerous country being influenced by an evil and wicked religion. A lot of people, brethren and supporters alike wishes to see brother Eli in person and shake is hands. In the same manner, the enemies also wish to see him in person to bring him down.

Since the primary purpose of God-sent preacher is to preach the word of God in the bible to the world and not only to a part of the world, I would prefer to have brother Eli away from the Philippines where it is safer, where there are no INC of Manalo that could touch him and influence a foreign government. Modern technology could be maximized in order to preach the word in his native country. A lot of people misses the days wherein a live television program is aired and people from different walks of life could ask questions to the preacher by simply dialing a number on their phone. Given the proper equipment and resources, the same thing could still be done despite the distance of the God-sent preacher.
